NATIONAL QUALIFYING RULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS

To qualify for a National team, a bowler must:
  1. Participate in one or more of the events sanctioned by the MBAS such as, but not limited to: current Master/YBC tournaments - zones and/or Provincials, mentorship leagues, Master/Youth tournaments, Bowling School, Learn to Bowl Clinics for Youth (20 and under). To gain consideration for sanction, application must be made prior to the fall Executive Meeting of each year; or
  2. If you are not able to participate in any of the sanctioned events above, pay a fee of $25.00 to the MBAS by the final tournament weekend.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENTS AND ELIMINATION TICKETS
A reminder that once a member qualifies for the national contingent that all monies and tickets MUST be submitted by the provincial practice. If you cannot attend, you MUST ensure they get there.

Average Calculation
If a bowler has never participated in the MBAS qualifying tournaments before, they will then be considered a new bowler/first time participant and the following procedures will be used to calculate their average for the first 8 games bowled:
  1. For the first 8 games bowled the bowler will use a composite average of all games bowled in a league at the end of the previous year bowling season, including leagues in which a bowler has subbed (subs must have played at least 12 games before average can be used).
  2. For the first 8 games bowled, if a bowler has not bowled in a league the previous year, and is bowling in a league in the current year, the bowler’s average will be based on the composite average of the first 12 games bowled in all leagues of the current year.
  3. For the first 8 games, if a bowler has not bowled in any leagues in the previous year and is not bowling in the current year, the bowler will use the average of 160 for women and 180 for men.
