What I need to do if I want to become a Master Bowler or Coach in Saskatchewan
The MBAS is the teaching/coaching arm of 5 Pin bowling and assists the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association in planning, implementing and conducting Coaching Clinics/Courses.
If you wish to become a 5 Pin bowling coach and join the MBAS (you must be 19 years of age prior to January 1st of the current bowling season) or you wish to just become a coach and not join the MBAS, it is a pre-requisite that if you have not completed the Respect in Sport course previously, you will need to do so before taking a Community Coach Clinic.
You can find the Respect in Sport online course by doing a web search for Respect in Sport Sask Sport, click on the heading Access Training, scroll down and click on All other Coaches, choose language, click on New to this Program, click on New User, complete the registration questions (for Association, click on the plus sign for Sask Sport and choose Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan), under the Communication to the NCCP heading click on allow, submit registration and complete the online modules.
If you wish to coach at a National level, you must also complete the free Making Headway course which can be found in the Coach Canada Locker.
You can send an Expression of Interest if you are wanting to take the Community Coach Clinic by going to the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan website (www.saskbowl.com) and on the Masters home page under the heading of Coaching/Clinics/Courses Information click on Expression of Interest for Community Coach Clinic. Complete the Expression of Interest form and submit it. The Clinic Coordinator will notify you of a Community Coach Clinic when one is arranged.
Once you have been notified of the date, location and time of a Community Coach Clinic, you will need to again go to the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan website (www.saskbowl.com) and on the Masters home page under the Coaching/Clinics/Courses Information heading, click on Community Coach Clinic Registration Form. Complete and submit the registration form and the required fee by e-transfer.
Once you have completed the Respect in Sport online course and taken a Community Coach Clinic, you will be eligible to coach adults and kids in your bowling centre and YBC, Rising Stars and Fun Bowl provincially and nationally, however, if you wish to coach at any other provincial or national championships, you will need to further your coaching credentials by taking an Introduction to Competition course which is the first step to becoming a Certified Competition Coach. You will need to wait a minimum of six months in between taking the Community Coach Clinic and the Introduction to Competition course.
If it has been a minimum of 6 months since you completed the Community Coach Clinic, you would be eligible to take the Introduction to Competition course. You can send an Expression of Interest for this course by going to the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan website (www.saskbowl.com) and on the Masters home page under the Coaching/Clinics/Courses Information heading, click on Expression of Interest Introduction to Competition Course. Complete the Expression of Interest form and submit it. The Clinic Coordinator will notify you of an Introduction to Competition Course when one is arranged.
Once you have been notified of the date, location and time of the Introduction to Competition Course, you will need to again go to the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan website (www.saskbowl.com) and on the Masters home page under the Coaching/Clinics/Courses Information heading, click on Introduction to Competition Course Registration Form. Complete and submit the registration form and the required fee by e-transfer.
The final step to becoming a Certified Competition Coach is to be evaluated. After a minimum of 3 months after taking the Introduction to Competition course, you can apply to be evaluated by a Coach Developer to become a Certified Competition Coach. You can send an Expression of Interest for Evaluation by going to the Bowling Federation of Saskatchewan website (www.saskbowl.com) and on the Masters home page under the Coaching/Clinics/Courses Information heading, click on Expression of Interest for Evaluation.
